Kammy Thurman began her sales career at the tender age of 10 when she peddled window-washing services to local businesses so she could buy a Barbie doll.
Two hours later she trotted home with 2 bucks in her fist and visions of Barbie dancing in her head. When she got home, Mom wasn’t quite as enthusiastic about the new venture since Kammy hadn’t asked permission to disappear downtown for half the afternoon or start a “business.”
A wee more selling and Mom relented. Two weeks later, Barbie came home to stay. That is, until Kammy discovered the new Jane West doll that could sit a model horse properly!
After attending college under a creative writing major, Kammy headed south to The Northwest Travel Institute in Dallas, TX, then enjoyed a 10-year career developing and marketing vacations—and quickly becoming the top-selling consultant for the largest agency in Montana. An achievement she maintained for her entire career.
After marrying and moving to a rural community too far to commute to a travel agency, Kammy focused more fully on her writing passion, producing over 1500 articles and stories that have appeared in both business and consumer media ranging from local to international publications.
In 1998, while perusing the shelves of the local library, Kammy found The Copywriter’s Handbook by Bob Bly, and discovered the perfect way to team her sales experience with her writing passion. As a professional sales writer, for the last 15 years, she has helped companies of all sizes—from mom & pop gift shops, to international travel publishers to large corporations—sell their products and services online and offline through a variety of marketing channels.
